David C. Bernat was raised in Norwich, Vermont. From an early age, he developed a life-long passion for fast cars, action/adventure movies, and disappearing into novels filled with mythology and lore.
After graduating Cum Laude from Union College in Schenectady, NY, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a screenwriter. One of the first scripts he wrote was a heartfelt love letter to two of his life-long passions. It followed a boy and his Indiana Jones-like grandfather on a whirlwind, globetrotting adventure to steal antique cars and potentially save the world.
Unfortunately, much as he loved the story, the script never quite worked; it always felt like it needed more. More characters, more pages, more heists. It wasn’t until fifteen years later that he figured out why: THE KEY TO IT ALL it wanted to be a novel.
David lives in Burbank, California and is the proud father of two amazing kids who are rarely seen without a book in their hands.
